Westlaw and Lawtel

I’m sure you’ll recall the external training sessions in the Westlaw and Lawtel databases which were organised just before Christmas.  They last a little less than 2 hours and consist of a session with a trainer lasting about an hour, followed by a short test.  If you pass the test, you’ll receive a certificate of competence in that database from Westlaw UK.  The sessions are voluntary and there is no charge for attending them.

The last set of sessions proved extremely popular and we had a number of students who contacted us afterwards and asked if it would be possible to organise some more, especially on Lawtel.

Therefore I am pleased to tell you that the following Lawtel sessions have been arranged for next month:

Monday 17th May 4.15-6.00

Tuesday 18th May 4.15-6.00

Wednesday 19th May 4.15-6.00

Thursday 20th May 4.15-6.00

An extra Westlaw session has been arranged on Wednesday 19th May from 2.00 to 4.00.

All sessions will be held in the glazed area at the back of the library, where there are 31 places available.  To book your place  on the course, just sign the sheets which will appear on the library counter by tomorrow morning at the latest.  The Lawtel courses are identical, so you only need to sign up for one.  In addition, you can also sign up for the Westlaw session if you want, or you can choose to attend just the Westlaw sesssion, without going to a Lawtel session.

I hope you are able to get to the sessions, and find them useful and interesting.
