If you are a GDL student and are looking to come back next year, how would you like to earn a little extra money by working in the library as a student information assistant in the evenings and at weekends?
We will shortly begin recruiting three students. You would work two evenings (between Monday and Thursday) from 5 pm to 10 pm on two out of every three weeks, on every third Friday from 5 pm to 8 pm, and on one weekend in three, on both Saturday and Sunday. Typical opening hours at the weekend are 12 noon to 5 pm, but they are subject to fairly frequent change.
Work involves answering general questions from other library users, stamping, tagging and shelving new stock, noting attendance figures, helping people use the self-issue machine, putting returned books back on the shelves, etc. Full training will be give by yours truly!
In some years rumours get about that this work is voluntary and unpaid, but this could not be further from the truth: in fact we pay £7.10 per hour.
Job descriptions will be available from the start of the new term and if you would like one, or if you’d just like an informal chat about the job, please see David.
