Hello,
Welcome back to returning students and our new cohorts. I am Terry, the Librarian here at the Manchester Centre. I have attached a Library guide to this email that tells you about borrowing rights etc. There are some links below that may prove useful. I will be based in the group area at the back of the Library between 12-1 on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday for at least the first term, so you can drop in for database sessions or to ask general questions.
My working hours are 9-5, Library Assistants work in the evening and weekends so we try to maintain a helpdesk presence for as long as possible. Out of hour queries can be directed to me via this address or Library-Manchester@law.ac.uk. Database sessions from external providers will also be scheduled, so keep a look out for emails about these sessions. You can also check out the Manchester Library website, which I will update with the information contained in this email.
I am happy to run Library sessions during the evenings and weekends. Please give me notice if you want me to come in out of hours and I will be happy to do so. If you need to cancel, please let me know in advance. Once a session is over I will email you the materials I used as well as some sample searches that you can use yourselves to get to grips with the databases. Sessions can be tailored to what you are studying, so if you want to look at a certain area of law, database or what to find out how to find precedents and drafting notes then drop me a line and I can create a session for you.
If you have any queries or questions, please respond to this email or come and see me.
