Law Society Practice Note on Mortgage Fraud

Hello,

LPC students need to access the above note for a workshop next week. Previously it was easily accessible on the Law society’s website. However, the site has changed and you will now need to register to access it.

Registration is free and a note/announcement is being put on Elite but in case you don’t get it this is what you need to do:-

  • Go to https://account.lawsociety.org.uk/registration.aspx
  • Register (our advice is to use ULaw email address)
  • You will then receive an email — click on link in it to activate your account
  • Sarch on the Law Soc site for the Practice note and then login to access it

Regards,

Terry

No more Library fines at UoL!

As a result of student feedback and following discussions with the Student Association, the Library is running a trial from May to July whereby fines will not be charged on most overdue Library books. Please note books should still be renewed or returned by their due date.

The one exception to this is that fines will be charged on reserved items which are not returned by the due date. If you have a book on loan which is reserved by another student you will receive an email from the Library confirming the date the book must be returned by. If you fail to return the book by that date a charge of £5 will be placed on your Library account the day after the due date. This charge will increase by £5 every 7 days if the book is not returned.

The reason for this charge is to ensure that all students wishing to loan items will be able to do so.

We welcome any feedback you have during the trial.

The Cardiff Index to Legal Abbreviations and Library

Hello,

Just a quick reminder that the CITLA is an excellent resource when it comes to finding out what a legal abbreviation means. You can access it via this link.

The UoL Library page also has an iGuides section that contains information about using both print and electronic resources. It is here.

I am availalble for one-to-ones or group sessions throughout the year, we can cover the databases, Practical Law, Current Awareness and Business databases. Feel free to email me if you want to brush up in a given area.

Regards,

Terry
