You can sign up to any of the library workshops or training sessions listed below by visiting Elite> Student Hub>Events & Sign Ups or emailing the library. All library training takes place in the Library Extension (area behind glass doors at the back of the library).

Get useful search tips from expert trainers. Find out how to set up email alerts to help prepare your next workshop. Discover how to obtain a certificate in online research – a useful addition to your CV.

1) Combined Westlaw and Practical Law database training:
Thursday 12th November at 12.45pm to 1.30pm in the library extension.

An overview of these useful databases, which are used by 90% of law firms and which are vital for workshop preparation and for your assessed coursework

2) Combined Westlaw and Practical Law training – Tuesday 17th November at 12.45pm to 1.30pm.

An introduction to these databases to help you with workshop preparation and your assessed coursework.

3) Lexis Training sessions: Another essential tool for your course.

Monday 9th November:

4) Hardcopy Made Easy
Do you know how to use Halsbury’s Laws, Halsbury’s Statutes and Is It In Force? This 45-minute workshop will teach you the essential skills of how to access and use key paper-based legal resources. It is particularly suitable for beginners and those who want a refresher in hard-copy resources to assist with their PLR.

5) Finding Cases and Legislation Online
This workshop will show you how to find and update legislation and case law using online services including UK Parliament Acts on LexisLibrary, and Case Analysis on Westlaw. Includes database searching tips.

6) Finding Commentary Online
Library workshop showing you how to find commentary using Halsbury’s Laws on Lexis, Insight on Westlaw, legal dictionaries online and practitioner texts on the LexisLibrary and Westlaw legal databases.
